  宝宝再见!

  One of the National Zoo’s giant pandas Bao Bao will go to China in late winter 2017 as part of abreeding agreement the zoo has with a wildlife conservation group there.

  作为与中国野生动物保护组织签订的养育协议的一部分,国家动物园的大熊猫“宝宝”将在2017年冬末去往中国。

  Under the agreement giant pandas born at the zoo in the District are sent to China by theirfourth birthday. And Bao Bao who was born there on Aug. 23 2013 will turn 4 in 2017.

  在该协议下,出生在本地区动物园的大熊猫必须在她们第四个生日之前被送还中国。宝宝出生在2013年8月23日,必须在四年后,即2017年被送回。

  “Bao Bao is very special to us at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo” said Brandie Smith associatedirector of animal care sciences in a statement.

  动物保护科学研究所的副所长布兰迪史密斯先生在一份声明中说道:“宝宝对于史密斯国家动物园是非常特殊的。”

  Zoo officials said Bao Bao is the “first surviving cub born at the zoo since 2005.”

  动物园的官员称宝宝是“自2005年以来出生在该动物园第一个幸存下来的熊猫幼崽。”
